🎆 Time for Some Friday Fun!!! 🎆 11/27/2020 C_K

Image
Good Friday morning everyone! I do hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday (for those that partake) and that everyone has had a good week! For those that participate in Thanksgiving, I hope you had a wonderful day full of love and laughter! Mine was good although it had a few 'bumps' in the road but hey, it wouldn't be a holiday for us if it didn't lol. It had been so long since the hubby had actually spent most of the day in the kitchen with me that he flubbed up a little but it was to me on one of the most important dishes rofl! Once I get the turkey going and the ham in the oven, I typically go ahead and mix my dressing up to have it ready to go in the oven as soon as the ham is done. So I did as I always do and once it's mixed up and 'fluffed' I covered it with foil and sat it to the side. I mean we have critters and no matter how much you clean there's always a chance of a stray hair making it's way into my cooking space so I do a ...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Image
Happy Thanksgiving. Hope everyone has something to be thankful for today. It was 35 degrees here this morning, but supposed to warm up to about 62 today. Should be a nice day. We are cooking at home this year, but I made my first Pumpkin Roll! It turned out pretty good, will need to tweet it a little, but very tasty. So what is everyone else up to today? Have fun with this one!

It's Hump-Day Already!??!?!? 😯 11/25/2020 C_K

Good morning everyone! It's time to rise and shine (or something along those lines)! Wow... it's already Hump-Day! Has this week been going by fast to everyone or just me? Maybe it is just me. I guess, for the first time in a LONG time, I'm just not in the 'holiday' mindset which is odd because from now on through the first of the new year has always been my favorite time of the year. I know that I'm really not looking forward to cooking tomorrow. I've had neuropathy from about the middle of my foot on down to the tips of my toes for about a year now but it was just more of a nuisance. That numb feeling. Been going on for about a year now but this past week, it seems to have taken a drastic step forward. It went from that simple slight numb feeling to that burning and needles sensations, especially when I go to bed. Something tells me that I'm going to have hell to pay after a full day on my feet in the kitchen tomorrow. After a little research though, ...

WORDS we are uncomfortable with (FRIG)

Image
In case you missed it, on Friday, on this thread: https://countrykatnc.blogspot.com/2020/11/tgif-11202020-ck.html Our Kat posted: If you are bothered though, I apologize lol. I do my best to watch my sailor's mouth but sometimes it just gets the best of me 😉! I do cuss like a sailor, I own up to it freely. SNOWFLAKE SAYS: The occasional usage of the word does NOT bother me, but the common usage does. WHY? Seems I can't read a book nowadays without someone fucking someone else or fucking over someone else. I am imagining if Charles Dickens or Mark Twain or  D. H. Lawrence   were around nowadays, what their stories would read like. Never mind the great movies, trying to imagine Gone with the Wind, or Hello Dolly, or Grease written for today's audiences! I can swear up a storm too, but when I hear elementary school age children using the F word in the schoolyard, I ask myself, have we LOST SOMETHING? Same with the overuse now of the P word, and a few others I can think of....

T.G.I.F!!! 11/20/2020 C_K

Good morning everyone! I do hope everyone is doing well because, it's Friday!!! I do hope no one is bothered by 'swear' words because... If you are bothered though, I apologize lol. I do my best to watch my sailor's mouth but sometimes it just gets the best of me 😉! I do cuss like a sailor, I own up to it freely. You do know that there is a study out there though that says there is a link between using profanity and being a more honest person right lol? It's also suggested that swearers are happier and healthier in a mental aspect lmao! I do have to watch what I say closely though, Little Man literally repeats anything and everything he hears me say. Doesn't make a flip if his daddy says it but if I say it, he will repeat it lmao. A couple of days ago, one of the girls said or did something and my response was a low toned, sarcastic good Lord! Within seconds, Little Man lowers his tone and repeats "good Lord" complete with the head shaking movements ...

Welcome to Wednesday! Otherwise Known as Hump-Day!!! 🐪 11/18/2020 C_K

Good morning everyone! I do hope everyone is doing well on this fine Hump-Day morning! I am sooooo ready for the weekend already, mostly because tonight and the next night or two are going to SUCK lol! The hubby's aunt (the one his dad lives with) is having knee replacement surgery today so she'll be kept overnight for at least 2 nights. So I do ask for plenty of positive thoughts to be sent her way for a successful surgery and for a speedy recovery! But my first thought when she came to the house last week to talk to me about scheduling the surgery knowing she'd need help and need Middle Daughter to stay at least the weekend, my first thought was that I don't want Pops staying there alone at night. Yeah, he's a big boy and all but I worry. He's recently been put on a sleeping medication and he's literally fallen asleep in the middle of a conversation while holding the phone Skyping with the hubby and kids. I could hear Pops talking one second then he was s...

ODE TO BALD MEN

Image
A couple of days ago, one of the regulars on here, said to me "Bald Men Rock" But are all bald men created the same? I suspect, depending on the contour of one's head, whether there are a lot of spots or bumps, some men would be less attractive bald. I mean you wouldn't want to see this man bald, would you? OK OK  I get some of the ladies love bald men if they look like this: or perhaps like this: but surely not all men look good bald. AM I WRONG? OK LADIES (and Gents too), have some with this one!!!

See Mercury and Venus in the predawn sky this week

Image
See Mercury and Venus in the predawn sky this week This sky map shows where to see Mercury and Venus before sunrise on Nov. 12, 2020.  (Image credit:  SkySafari/Simulation Curriculum ) The two "inferior" planets are teaming up with the moon and one of the brightest stars in the sky to put on a lovely show in the predawn morning skies of Thursday and Friday (Nov. 12-13). Planets that move in orbits that are closer to the sun than Earth are "inferior" planets and there are only two, Mercury and Venus.  Venus  is, by far, the most brilliant planet and is also the easiest one to see.  Mercury on the other hand, is the planet closest to the sun and as such its visibility is more fleeting, partly because it is often hidden in the bright solar glare and also because it usually appears at a rather low altitude relative to the horizon. But this month marks Mercury's finest morning apparition in 2020 and combined with its proximity to Venus, the moon and a bright first-ma...

It's Finally Friday (the 13th 👀😯)!!! 11/13/2020 C_K

Image
Good Friday morning everyone! And to top it off, it's another Friday the 13th! After double checking, this makes the 2nd Friday the 13th for the year! Can't wait for the hubby to get off this evening. We've had so much rain this past week that we've been under flood warnings the past 2 (?) days and thanks to the flooding, P.E.R.T. was 'activated' last night although he didn't have to go in right at that moment. They had to be back at the prison by 4 this morning so they could head over to another county to help transfer inmates. So the hubby had to be up around 1 this morning (he likes to have some quiet time before heading into work). They are having to distribute all the inmates from this particular prison that is prone to flooding out to other prisons semi local. So he's in for a super long day. He'd actually have the ability to leave work early, after they finish helping the other prison evacuate, but he's so far behind on his own paperwork ...

Interacting Galaxies

Image
Interacting Galaxies Arp 302 is a pair of interacting galaxies 450 million light years away from Earth. The two galaxies are in the early stages of interaction, but over the next million years they will get closer and closer until they merge together. This image was created by combining data obtained by Hubble in visible light and by Chandra in x-rays (the purple parts). Amazing Astrology and Science pictures from Free Astro & Sci posts on Facebook. I love looking at the stuff they find. Such beauty in the galaxy can be almost breathtaking. Hope everyone enjoys this as much as I do. CAM

✨Happy Hump-Day and Don't Forget to Thank a Veteran! ✨ 11/11/2020 C_K

Good morning all and welcome to the Hump! 😂 I know I'm late as all get out getting this thread up, but I actually slept until 7:30 this morning. Would probably still be snoring if it weren't for Little Man lol. With Middle Daughter not having school today, I said fudge it last night and took an extra sleeping pill and well, I slept! I think I slept too hard actually and didn't move but a time or two cause my neck is killing me! Anyways, it's Hump-Day! One day closer to the weekend lol! Although I'm not too sure why I'm looking forward to the weekend. Last weekend was filled with getting the fish tank treated for the algae and the girls worked on getting the Christmas tree up. I managed to kill my 2 Bristle Nose plecos (algae eaters) through doing the algae treatment along with 2 shrimp 😭. Losing the plecos absolutely broke my heart. They were under an inch long when we got them and had at least doubled in size if not grew a bit more. I told the hubby that he ...

The Cave Nebula

Image
The Cave Nebula The Cave Nebula Sh2-155, sometimes known as the Cave Nebula, is a diffuse nebula 2,400 light-years away from Earth, visible in the constellation Cepheus. The nebula is very faint and can only be observed through large diameter telescopes or, even better, long exposure photos. Sh2-155 is part of a vast nebulous complex containing emission, reflection and dark nebulae. Sh2-155 itself is an emission nebula with numerous star-forming processes active inside it. In fact, a short distance from Sh2-155 there is the open cluster Cepheus OB3, whose stars through their radiation ionize and compress the gases that make up the nebula, thus triggering the formation of new stars. BAKING WITH CANNABIS

COURTESY OF SNOWFLAKE  Five states will now legalize marijuana for both recreational and medical use. A majority of New Jersey and Arizona residents voted yes on ballot measures to make recreational marijuana legal. Voters in South Dakota approved marijuana for medical use. Lawmakers in New Jersey will now have to draft and pass legislation for implementing the new policy. The Arizona Department of Health Services will be responsible for adopting that state's rules. Mississippi voters approved an initiative to establish a medical marijuana program for patients with debilitating conditions. Voters in Montana voted for two initiatives to legalize, regulate and tax recreational marijuana for adults 21 and older, according to the Great Falls Tribune. Eleven other states and the District of Columbia already allowed legal recreational marijuana use prior to Election Day. South Dakota has a second ballot measure that would legalize recreational marijuana, but the votes are still bei...
