Time for Some Friday Fun!!! 🎆🎉🎆😜 02/26/2021 C_K

Good morning all! I do hope everyone is doing well and has had a wonderful week! You already know how mine has went and how wide open things have been around here since Little Man's illness that started in December... damn am I exhausted! The burnout has set in! I'm tired and drained to the point that I asked Middle Daughter to get Little Man out of his crib and dressed while I'm trying to get the energy up to get a shower. I slept through the night last night, didn't even get up to use the bathroom until 5:30 this morning where I'm up 2 or 3 times during a normal night. While I would have normally went ahead and started my day after waking up to use the bathroom this morning, I couldn't keep my eyes open so I crawled back in the bed until just after 7 lol. Can't believe I was able to sneak out of the room without Little Man stirring. I normally Skype with Linda most evenings/nights and although she rang me, I told her I'd get back with her after a whi...

It's Hump-Day! 😜 02/24/2021 C_K

Hey all, it's Hump-Day! I hope everyone had a decent weekend this past weekend and has had a good week so far. Ours has been rather hard. My father in law came home Friday afternoon/early evening. As soon as the hospital notified us that transport had left the hospital, the hubby and Middle Daughter headed on over to the hubby's aunt's house not knowing what to expect nor how long things would take. It surprisingly happened quicker than anyone anticipated. We had been told to expect around a week once dialysis was stopped but pops very peacefully passed from this world around noon Monday. He spent his last 2 and a half days surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of home. Little Man spent most of the day Saturday, pops did his best to open his eyes and interact with him but his body was just so worn out that it was only a minute or so here and there that he was aware. It seems that Little Man senses that something has been going on but at only 3, he doesn't understand ...

THINGS are A-changin' in Snowy's World

First off, my mother passed away around 3 AM last night. Because of Covid restrictions neither myself nor my Bro were able to be with her at the time of her passing. I had actually received a call Friday from my Bro expecting she would pass Friday. She was 96, died of natural causes, peacefully. For those of you have been with me since I was on the old Disqus and here, and have followed my history, you probably remember I had lived in Canada for 30 years, till three things happened: My ex and I split up in 2008, I also sold the title of my landscaping business and the property for a hefty sum, and moved back to my home State of Minnesota to take care of my ailing mother after the passing of my Dad. She was developing dementia so my Bro and I made the decision to put her in a nursing home, we sold the family home to cover her expenses, I intended to spend the rest of my life as a bachelor till I met Geri, and now I have a partner for what remains of my life. However, I still have a...

Alaska woman using outhouse attacked by bear, from below

Alaska woman using outhouse attacked by bear, from below February 18, 2021, 11:02 PM ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — An Alaska woman had the scare of a lifetime when using an outhouse in the backcountry and she was attacked by a bear, from below. “I got out there and sat down on the toilet and immediately something bit my butt right as I sat down,” Shannon Stevens told The Associated Press on Thursday. “I jumped up and I screamed when it happened.” Stevens, her brother Erik and his girlfriend had taken snowmobiles into the wilderness Feb. 13 to stay at his yurt, located about 20 miles northwest of Haines, in southeast Alaska. Her brother heard the screaming and went out to the outhouse, about 150 feet (45.72 meters) away from the yurt. There, he found Shannon tending to her wound. They at first thought she had been bitten by a squirrel or a mink, or something small. Erik brought his headlamp with him to see what it was. “I opened the toilet seat and there’s just a bear face just right there a...

It's Finally Friday! 🎉🎆🎉 02/19/2021 C_K

Although MY job is 24/7 lol! I hope everyone has had a good week and heads in to an awesome weekend! I apologize for the thread being way later than I normally post, I waited to post due to a personal request from someone. I can't/won't name names or why the request being it isn't my place, but all will be known soon enough. My father in law will be coming home once the case manager confirms with the company that the bed and oxygen machine were delivered yesterday. So we are in the final stretch, the hardest one, in our path with him. It's said that once a patient stops dialysis that they typically 'live' 3 to 4 days although my husband's grandmother made it a full week. I don't think pops' body will last that long though, it is so worn out. So anyway! This thread isn't about being sad, it's about taking a break from that sort of stuff and having a little fun!!! Oh you all will get a good laugh at my stupidity this morning lol. So, I've ...

Hump-Day already? I don't know if it's just me but man this week seems to be flying by. I apologize for the post going up later than normal. I woke up around 5:30, looked at the clock and said NOPE! I don't know what the difference was last night but my meds kicked in faster than normal and knocked me out way longer than normal lol. I finally woke up to the sun already up and hearing Little Man playing which had me 'pretending' to be asleep a little while longer since I wasn't ready to mess with him yet lol.  He's now actually sitting quietly watching "Robots" while I'm trying to get enough energy up to get a shower. I hope everyone had a good weekend and good start to their week! Ours was the same ol' same ol'. In a holding pattern with pops still as the hubby was waiting for final psych eval to be done which was done yesterday. It looks like we'll be bringing pops home on hospice, when that's going to take place is yet to be ...

Friday Fun Time! 🎆🎉🎆 02/12/2021 C_K

Good morning everyone! It's Friday!!!  I do hope everyone is doing well today! I actually slept harder and longer last night than I think I have in 5 years. I normally wake up 1 or 2 times a night to use the bathroom but I don't think I did last night... if I did, I sure as heck don't remember it! It seems I actually slept from 9:12 (last glance at the clock) straight through to 6 this morning 😯. I'm not ever sure if I moved during the night cause dang my left arm/shoulder are KILLIN' me this morning lol. Things around here are pretty much the same as they've been since pops went in to the hospital but things will change Monday. It's not fully decided on whether or not pops will be coming home and continuing dialysis or whether he'll be coming home on hospice care but he'll be coming home. Pops' case manager at the hospital met with the hubby yesterday and while I wasn't there, I do think she was sort of 'leading' the hubby to make t...

Hump-Day Hangout! 😜 02/10/2021

Good morning all! It's Hump-Day! Is it just me or is this week flying by? I guess I'm enjoying a mostly peaceful week so far with Middle Daughter being back on school campus this week. Her being online next week means a week of noisy hell again lol. Which reminds me that I gotta figure out how this new schedule crap works, it seems their online times are changing 🤔. So what's going on in everyone's little corner of the world? Things are holding about the same here in mine. Pops is still in the hospital although we are working to get him home, continue his dialysis and let him live whatever time he's got left in the comfort of home. With him wanting to continue dialysis yet not being able to stand on his own, I spent most of the day yesterday on the phone trying to find the best prices for an ambulance transport service that can get him to and from his appointments. It wasn't looking too good, everyone I spoke with said we'd end up with at least $1100.00 b...

NEW FEATURE - SNOWY'S MONDAY MONSTER MUSIC MANIA

Image
THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE THIS A TRY: Been wanting to do a weekly MUSIC thread for a while now, just to get away from all the serious stuff. What a better place to do it, than on Kat's Korner  I hope to do a "theme" every monday, and hope loyal followers will play along and join in, so here goes.... IF YOU HAD TO PICK JUST ONE ALBUM that you would list as your all-time favorite, what would it be? MINE: Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of The Moon voted all-time greatest album https://www.loudersound.com/news/pink-floyds-the-dark-side-of-the-moon-voted-all-time-greatest-album#:~:text=The%20Dark%20Side%20Of%20The%20Moon%2C%20Pink%20Floyd's%201973%20album,debut%20album%20Appetite%20For%20Destruction. AND NO, that is not why it is my all-time favorite, I actually saw a live version of this done by a Pink Floyd cover band, and they absolutely nailed it perfectly. Only made me wish I could have seen the real thing. NOW YOUR TURN. (Remember, this channel is for fun, so NO politics...

Welcome to Friday!!! 🎆🎉🎆 02/05/2021 C_K

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone has had a good week. Things are still up in the air here but we'll get through it. It's Friday!!! And in T minus 6 hours, I will have one less kid lol! While she did get in trouble last night and I ended up staying up WAY later than I should have been with my meds, I didn't "ground" her for it. She got busted with her school computer up stairs, her excuse was she hadn't gone back to work on a Math IXL that she was struggling with but knew she needed to have that score pulled up (from a 20 to the 80 I require) before I checked her school stuff this morning. I'm not buying it because she had her headphones on... but I will say she likes to listen to music while working on school work to help drown out Little Man. So this went down literally seconds before I was going to crawl my fat butt in the bed. I had shut the laptop down, TV was off and I was sending a good night text to the hubby that was at another prison doing s...

The secrets of 3000 galaxies laid bare

Image
The secrets of 3000 galaxies laid bare Shedding light on the evolution of the Universe The scientists observed 13 galaxies at a time, building to a total of 3068, using a custom-built instrument called the Sydney-AAO Multi-Object Integral-Field Spectrograph (SAMI), connected to the 4-metre Anglo-Australian Telescope (AAT) at Siding Spring Observatory in New South Wales. The telescope is operated by the Australian National University. Overseen by the ARC Centre of Excellence for All Sky Astrophysics in 3 Dimensions (ASTRO 3D), the project used bundles of optical fibres to capture and analyse bands of colours, or spectra, at multiple points in each galaxy. The results allowed astronomers from around the world to explore how these galaxies interacted with each other, and how they grew, sped up or slowed down over time. No two galaxies are alike. They have different bulges, haloes, disks and rings. Some are forming new generations of stars, while others haven't done so for billions of ...

Happy Hump-Day! 🐪 02/03/2021 C_K

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone had a good weekend this past weekend and has had a good start to their week! We are heading over that hump today as it's Hump-Day!!! It won't be long now until it's Friday and the weekend! I think the main reason I look forward to the weekend, besides having the hubby home of course, is that it gives me a break from having both Middle Daughter and Little Man under the same roof and from being stuck in the same room! OMG those two, when put together, DRIVE ME ABSOLUTELY BONKERS!!!!!!!! God knows that I love them more than life itself but the two of them are like oil and water! He'll slap the fool out of her arm, she'll extremely lightly pop his arm and tell him don't hit so hard, he has an emotional breakdown because "sissy HIT ME"! She'll get up to go to the bathroom and simply look at him and he freaks out and starts screaming at her. Middle Daughter, trying to pick a play in her own way, she'll steal o...
